What have you learned from your audience feedback?

Audience Feedback

To gather some audience feedback on my video i created a Survey for  people to answer on the website Survey Monkey.

I asked these questions as i felt that they would help me to gather information about my Video, Poster and Digipak and also information about whether or not all the products work well together. These questions also allowed my Audience to provide me with positive and negative feedback so i know what needs improving and what doesn't need improving.

Positive feedback gained:

• The overall outcome for my video was that it all came together well and the shots worked well with the song. 
• A lot of respondents said that they really liked the beginning and end scene where there is the candle being lit and then blown out. They thought it was really effective and helped to bring the whole video together as a whole
• They said that the overall video was enjoyable to watch and the editing is well timed with the song
• A lot of the audience could see a clear connection between the digipak and poster due to there being a theme that runs through both of them
• Overall the felt that the poster successfully promoted the artist and video as it made them want to listen to the song more and re watch the video.

Room for Improvement:

• Although a lot of the respondents gathered that the video was about breaking apart from old memories of a relationship of some sort, they still said that the story line was a little unclear, especially at the beginning of the video. I could include more shots about why she is burning all of her memories to make it clearer.

• If i was to change anything, they said that i could include the artist singing along to the song in area of it, so that it links the video and artist more to the song.

• They also said that a change in outfits for the artist may help to keep the audiences attention more throughout.

Laura: "I love the overall look of your digipak. It is clear that you have thought through each aspect of the digipak, and spent a lot of time on it. I love how it all connects together via the use of the colours and font. You have also paid attention to a lot of smaller details, such as the barcode and the logo for the production company. I feel that it helps to bring it all together more and give it a more professional look overall!"

Aoife: " The CD that you have created is my favourite aspect of your whole digipak, as it links with the music video and on it own it looks great! I like the combination of the black and white photo with the pink and white text. It helps it to really stand out and overall, the colours work really well together. The only negative thing i can think of to say is that the picture on the front of the digipak fades into the background colour, which means that the artist isn't as visible on the front as she is on the back page."

Juliette: "Wow! The way that you have put your digipak together really draws me towards the artist and makes me want to buy the CD. The colours used help to bring each section together and make for a really effective digipak. Overall, i feel that  you have put a lot of effort into it and it shows as the finished product looks very professional and i would buy it!"

Laura:" I love that i can see a clear link between the poster and the digipak. This is really effective and draws me towards the products. After watching the video and then looking at the poster, i can see a clear link due to the fact that shes wearing the same outfit within the video. I really like how they link as it means that the poster is promoting the video and the audience can clearly see the link. I like how the same font and colours are used on the poster as the digipak! Overall its really effective!"

Aoife: " The poster is just as good as the digipak! There is a really clear link between the two products and this is really effective. There is the same issue with not knowing where her body ends and where the background ends, but this doesn't massively take away from the overall look of the product."

Juliette: " The poster and Digipak combination work so well together as the theme is the same throughout and the use of the same image on the poster and digipak also helps to connect the products more. I really like how you have added the logos for iTunes and XL Recordings as it helps the overall look of the poster to be more professional."

Outfit Plan for Photoshoot

Chosen Font

The main font that i have chosen to use on my digipak and poster is Langon. I feel that it will stand out on the page as it is different from other fonts and has a kind of 3-D effect which will make it very noticable for the audience. For smaller areas of text on my digipak and poster, i have chosen to use Elephant. I feel it has a clean professional look to it and will complete my pages. Elephant will be used for text such as the song names on the back page of my digipak as this is bulk text and i feel it would make the page too messy and full if it was in Langdon.

Change in idea

Change in filming idea:

I have had to change the idea for my music video as it proved difficult to film my original idea, this was down to the weather which had a big effect when i tried to film my original idea and led to us cancelling filming.

The model that i was using to be my artist was then unavailable to use for filming which meant i have had to change my model and the idea that i am going to film.

About the Artist:

Indigo (surname), stage name Indigo, is a solo artist who is new to the music industry. She’s is in her early 20’s and performs Indie/Indie-Rock music. Indigo is about to release her first album.

She has grown up surrounded by different genres and has listened to a mixture of artists. This has helped her to enjoy and respect different types of music. She gained her passion for music at a young age and quickly decided that she wanted to pursuit a career in the music industry. She never realised that her small dream as a child would turn into a reality as she grew up.

She started off at the bottom by performing covers of her favourite songs and posting them online for he friends and family to see. When the view count started to grew Indigo knew that she had a talent and she wanted to share it with everyone. This led to her performing in bars and clubs that were local to her. 

Her expanding fan base made her realise that she had to move on from covering songs. This is what has led her to producing her own album which contains her new hit single Mother and Father

Mother and Father:

The song is about a person who is grown up and living on their own. They are now looking back at how long it’s been since they left their home. The song lyrics talk about when they were younger and how their parents loved them, taught them and encouraged them in life (“we knew what it meant to be loved.”). Now that they are older, they are on their own to get through the hard times without their parents there to help them and all that they need is to be back at home and not have to go through all of this on their own as they are disappointed in the way that they are living.

Concept (First Idea)

At the beginning of the music video we will see someone falling asleep at home. The video will then progress and we will be within her dream. We will start by seeing her find an object that has meaning to her and the missing person which is broken. She will then try to search for the missing person who is an important member of her life. Throughout the video she is hoping that they haven't left her and she isn't all alone as the focus of the song is on Loneliness. We will then follow her as she visits all the locations they once went together hoping that he may be there and that the memories they had there together are still 'there' and when she visits the locations she hopes the memories will come back to her and won't leave her as well. She will carry on her search by asking people if they have seen who she is looking for. Towards the end of the video she will begin to give up hope that she will find him and she starts to burn things that were once important to her as the linked her to him (e.g. the picture). At the end of the video we will see her wake up and realise that is was all a dream and that she won't "wake up lonely". But is everything back to how it was before she fell asleep...

Concept: (Idea that was filmed)

At the beginning of the music video we will see someone waking up at home in the middle of the night. She will head downstairs and do general activities that she would perform everyday now that she has moved out and lives on her own. There will be a nock on her door and when she goes to look she will find a strange item left on the door step. At first, we will see her take no notice of the item and leave it in her living room. It will then follow her as she realises that the flowers could have meaning. We will then see her link the flowers to her box of memories where there is a letter from her mum before she left her. This brings back bad and emotional memories for her. This leads her to destroy all that is left of her memories.

Style:

The lighting within the video will vary between low key lighting and high key lighting. A lot of the lighting within my video will be natural as a lot of aspects of my video will be shot outside. For when she is remembering memories that took place with the missing person the lighting will be high key and bright as this will reflect the happiness of the memories and will reflect that there is a moment where she has forgotten what’s happening. 

Low key lighting will reflect that she is still alone and will reflect the dull mood of the video. there will be a mixture of bright and dull colours depending on the mood e.g. bright colours when she’s remembering, dull when she’s alone and searching (similar to the lighting)
